Not sure if this relates but on a Vision, the iPod connector cable has 2 connections at the bike end (controller & audio). If the audio is not plugged in fully, it could potentially make a short across left & right channels which would effectively cancel each other out except for the difference between L & R signal. That would sound really tinny with very little bass. Does that sound like what you have?

This may sound lame but..................which Ipod are you using? I have a touch2 and cannot get it to work. Should I be using a later Ipod?
